Seefin and Seefingan

Location: Dublin/ Wicklow Mountains.

Difficulty: Moderate.

Time: 3 hrs (allowing time for exploring passage tombs)

Distance: 6.6 km.

Equipment: rain gear, hiking boots, water.

Families: not suitable for buggies.

Rating: 4 stars.

There are a few different options for starting this climb. We started from a lay-by in front of a stile, southwest of Seefin. For a walk so close to the city, it is surprisingly unpopulated. At the summit of both Seefin and Seefingan are impressively large passage tombs. You can even go into the one on the top of Seefin – we weren’t brave enough…. it looked eery and dark inside. But what really made the walk for us was the impressive views of lakes, mountains and the Dublin coastline. The terrain is very boggy so it’s probably one to avoid after wet weather.
