Phoenix Park is Europe’s largest city park and it does not disappoint. On top of being a sanctuary for deer, a sports ground and a public amenity, it is also home to the US Ambassador’s Residence and Áras an Uachtaráin. There’s so many different routes you can take but we decided to follow the purple route marked out on phoenix park website. It’s not waymarked but if you take a wrong turn it’s not the end of the world – there are multiple trails that are interlinked so you’ll find your way back to the start. The highlight for us are the deer. There are so many of them! It’s actually an achievement to do a walk in Phoenix park and not see lots of deer. There’s a ban of feeding or approaching the deer but we observed that ban being ignored by many. We really enjoyed this walk and we’ll definitely be returning to sample another route.
